TRENGGALEK, bioztv.id – The development of the situation in Ngrandu Village, Suruh District, Trenggalek Regency, is still a serious concern. Since the landslide and landslide incident hit the area, until now as many as 119 residents are still surviving in evacuation sites. However, residents continue their activities as usual.
Head of Trenggalek BPBD, Triadi Atmono said, his party has prepared two main posts for refugees, namely in RT 17 and RT 18, Ngrandu Village. The second post has just been established to facilitate access for refugees who are near the vulnerable area.
“At this post, we also provide facilities such as a public kitchen and toilets,” said Triadi Atmono.
The first post, located in RT 17, now accommodates around 60 people, while the second post in Ngiling field, RT 18, accommodates 59 people. The decision to establish the second post was based on the need to facilitate the mobility of refugees.
“With a distance of about 2.5 kilometers from the affected location, refugees can easily access the post without having to travel far,” explained Triadi.
Triadi also added that the evacuees continued their daily activities such as gardening, raising livestock, and looking for animal feed around the area they usually use. However, when night falls, they choose to spend the night at the post to ensure safety.
“Currently, the situation at the disaster site is no longer habitable. We ask the public to remain in the safe zone,” Triadi stressed.
The landslide disaster began when heavy rain poured down on the area on Sunday night, December 15, 2024. The incessant landslides traumatized residents and forced them to return to their homes.
Some evacuees initially chose to stay with relatives in nearby villages such as Puru and Wonokerto in Suruh District, as well as Pringapus and Sumber Bening Villages in Dongko District. However, with the presence of a more organized post, the majority of residents have been moved to the post in Ngrandu Village.
This disaster management step also received direct attention from the Trenggalek Regent and the Forkopimda ranks who reviewed the disaster location. The local government ensured that the basic needs of the evacuees were met, while continuing to monitor the development of the landslide situation in the area. With weather conditions still fluctuating, residents are advised to remain vigilant and follow the directions of officers.
“Our priority is to ensure that there are no casualties and that all the needs of the evacuees are met,” Triadi concluded. (CIA)
